Northern Missouri Futbol Club - Behavioral Expectation Policy
Effective Date: 2/11/2024
I. Players' Behavioral Expectations:
As members of Northern Missouri Futbol Club, players are expected to adhere to the following behavioral standards
during games and practices:
- Respect: Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, and spectators with respect at all times. Display good
sportsmanship and uphold the values of fair play. - Commitment: Attend all scheduled practices and games unless prevented by a valid reason. Communicate any
conflicts in advance to the coach. - Effort and Improvement: Strive to give your best effort during practices and games. Show a willingness to
learn, improve, and contribute positively to the team environment. - Team Unity: Foster a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Support and encourage teammates, recognizing that
success is a collective effort. - Punctuality: Strive to arrive on time for all practices, games, and team events. Punctuality demonstrates
commitment and respect for your teammates and coaches. - Uniform and Equipment: Maintain your uniform and equipment in good condition. Wear the team uniform
with pride and represent the club positively. - Communication: Communicate openly and respectfully with coaches. Express any concerns or issues through
the proper channels outlined in this policy.
II. Parents’ and Spectators’ Behavioral Expectations:
Parents and spectators play a crucial role in fostering a positive environment for players. The following behavioral
expectations should be observed:
- Supportive Environment: Create a positive and supportive atmosphere for players, coaches, and officials.
Avoid negative comments or actions that may harm the spirit of the game. - Respect for Decisions: Respect the decisions of coaches and officials. Refrain from criticizing or questioning
their judgments during games and practices. - Sideline Conduct: Maintain appropriate behavior on the sidelines. Refrain from aggressive or disrespectful
language or gestures. Voice support; refrain from coaching or specifically guiding your player(s) to do specfic
actions. Coaches and players will exclusively occupy one whole side of the playing field, while all spectators
shall occupy the opposite side of the field. This assists in the coaches ability to provide clear instruction of their
players during the game. - Communication Protocol: If you have concerns, address them first with your child's coach. If the issue
persists, contact the Director of Coaches. If necessary, the President of the Board can be consulted. - Punctuality: Parents/Gaurdians are responsible for ensuring players are delivered safely to practices and games
and is picked up from those activities on time. While NMFC takes measures to ensure the safety of all players,
the club does not have the staffing to monitor drop-off and pick-up. Please understand you assume sole
responsibility for your player(s). - Refraining from Personal Attacks: When communicating concerns, irrespective of the level, refrain from
personal attacks on players, coaches, or any other members. Constructive feedback is encouraged, and personal
attacks will not be tolerated.
III. Coaches’ Behavioral Expectations:
Coaches are expected to set a positive example and provide a constructive learning environment for players. Behavioral
expectations include:
- Player Development: Prioritize the development of players' skills, character, and teamwork over winning at all
costs. - Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, parents, and fellow coaches.
Encourage open dialogue and address concerns promptly. - Sportsmanship: Model good sportsmanship and fair play. Emphasize the importance of respecting opponents,
officials, and the spirit of the game. - Cultivating Player Development and Fair Play: In our commitment to fostering player growth and ensuring
fairness across our leagues, we have established guidelines for playing time and development tailored to each
league.
- Recreation League: Coaches are encouraged to prioritize equal playing time and provide access to various positions
for all players on the team. This approach allows each participant to gain valuable experience
and contribute to the team's progress. While competition remains a part of the Recreation
League, the emphasis is placed on inclusive participation and skill development. - Travel League/Tournament Play: Recognizing the competitive nature of the Travel League, coaches are granted more discretion in
managing playing time and assigning positions. However, it is imperative that coaches maintain
fairness and transparency in their decisions. While performance and strategy may influence
playing time and position assignments, coaches should ensure that opportunities for growth and
development are provided to all players on the team. - Regardless of the league, our coaches are expected to prioritize the holistic development of each player,
both on and off the field. By fostering an environment that values fairness, sportsmanship, and
individual progress, we aim to create a positive and enriching experience for all participants.
5. Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts or grievances in a timely and constructive manner. If necessary, involve
the Director of Coaches and, ultimately, the President of the Board.
IV. Resolving Concerns:
If a player, parent, or coach has a concern or grievance, the following steps should be followed:
- Player/Parent/Coach to Coach: Raise the issue with the respective coach in a calm and constructive manner.
Try to resolve the matter at this level. - Player/Parent to Director of Coaches: If the concern persists, contact the Director of Coaches at
nmfcdoc@gmail.com to discuss the issue and seek resolution. - Player/Parent/Coach to President of the Board: If the matter remains unresolved, contact the President of the
Board at nmfc.soccer@gmail.com for further assistance and resolution. - If there is a concern with a referee: Please contact the Director of Referees at nmfc.refs@gmail.com to
discuss the issue and seek resolution.
V. Consequences for Non-Compliance:
Failure to adhere to the behavioral expectations outlined in this policy may result in appropriate disciplinary action,
including but not limited to verbal warnings, suspension from games or practices, or, in severe cases, expulsion from
the club. The severity of the consequences will be determined based on the nature and recurrence of the violation. After
a thorough review of the policy infraction, the board will deliberate and make a final decision regarding the appropriate
course of action, ensuring fairness and consistency in disciplinary measures.
By participating in the Northern Missouri Futbol Club,
all members agree to abide by this Behavioral Expectation Policy.
The club reserves the right to amend this policy as needed.
