Coach Matt Heeren wins state award

by Jocelyn Prendergast

The Missouri Youth Soccer Association has named Matt Heeren both the Girls and Boys Recreational Coach of the Year for the Central District! Even more exciting, he was named the Girls Recreational Coach of the Year for the entire state of Missouri! As Teresa Longoria wrote in her nomination letter, "Matt works tirelessly to teach the children the fundamentals of the game and how to play with grace and good sportsmanship and that's why his players are known to be excellent all around players and people." This sentiment was echoed in Ryan Miller's letter, in which she wrote, "It is clear in every practice, every game, and every outside of soccer interaction that I have had with Matt that he thrives on helping these players develop into great soccer players, but more importantly, good people."

Matt will be honored at the MYSA Annual General Meeting, which will be held in Columbia, MO on February 19th. Congratulations to Matt and all of this year's winners!
